Junior CDMMEA Festival Audition Files & Information

2024-2025 Jr. Aux Percussion Solo

     CDMMEA will provide all equipment for performing the aux. solo. All Timpani, snare drum and mallet musicians will be required to play 5 multi-percussion examples.

* Suspended Cymbals  * Bass Drum
Please note that students can bring their own triangle/beater, tambourine, crash cymbals, sus. cymbal and bass drum beaters.

Please note:  The Snare Audition Rudiments have been updated to match the Percussive Arts Society International Drum Rudiments. 
     #1 - 5 and 9 stroke rolls, alternating (open/close)
     #2 - 7 stroke roll, left hand (open/close)
     #3 - flam accent 1
     #4 - flam paradiddle
     #5 - single & double paradiddle

Tonal Intervals are no longer required for vocalist. Each student will be asked to sing a Major scale and will be scored. Any syllable is allowed. The starting note will be played once on a pre-recorded track, after which the student will sing the appropriate major scale.

Sight-Reading
Will be used for auditions

We will be using sight reading that is created using
the site, SightReading Factory.com.


The sight has published CDMMEA tabs to automatically set preferences to match our guidelines.

All Jazz players must play from memory the jazz scale listed at the top of their jazz music, one major scale plus the appropriate chromatic scale. Jazz Rhythm (Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Vibes), do not play a chromatic scale.
